Monaco, 20 October 2025 – It was in the prestigious setting of Sportel Monaco, a major international event dedicated to sport and media, that His Serene Highness Prince Albert II officially unveiled Team Monaco E1, the new team that will represent the Principality at the 2026 UIM E1 Series World Championship, the first international competition for 100% electric powerboat racing.
Since the championship was launched in 2024, Monaco has hosted one stage of the series each year, confirming its pioneering role in the evolution of water sports towards sustainable solutions. With the creation of this team, the Principality is reaching a new milestone: it will now compete on the international stage under its own colours.
Team Monaco E1 will be led by Chris Taylor and Maxime Nocher, world kitesurfing champion and recognised figures in high-level water sports. Together, they intend to build a competitive, modern team that is exemplary in its environmental commitment.
In accordance with the championship rules, one female driver and one male driver will represent Team Monaco E1. The Monegasque Motorboat Federation will have the honour of issuing international licences to the Monegasque pilots involved in the team, thus underlining its central role in supporting and coaching the sport.
The final selection of pilots will be announced in the coming months, after a demanding evaluation phase. The team’s objective is clear: to aim for the top spots and compete for the title from the 2026 season onwards, culminating in the eagerly awaited Monaco event.
Through this ambitious commitment, Monaco is confirming its sporting, technological and environmental leadership, remaining faithful to its maritime tradition and its vision for the future.
