Aquabike: Maximiliano Mordenti’s world record honoured at the UIM Awards in Monaco

At the official 2025 Champions Trophy ceremony organised by the International Motorboating Union (UIM) on 7 March 2026 at the Fairmont Monte Carlo, the performance of Aquabike rider Maximiliano MORDENTI was honoured.

A member of the Monaco Yacht Club and licensed by the Monegasque Motorboat Federation, Maximiliano MORDENTI set his first UIM long-distance world record in aquabike on 15 September 2025 on the Monaco – Gallinara Island – Monaco route.

This demanding crossing was carried out in sea conditions that were not favourable for a record attempt. The pilot accomplished this feat aboard a jet ski powered by E85 bioethanol, demonstrating that technological innovation, sporting performance and respect for the environment can go hand in hand.

This attempt also made it possible to implement innovative technical solutions, including an anti-spill refuelling system specially designed for this event, helping to limit environmental impact and improve safety during refuelling operations.

This initiative is fully in line with the evolution of motorboat racing towards more responsible practices and alternative energies. It illustrates the commitment of those involved in the sector to promoting environmentally friendly innovations while pushing the boundaries of performance at sea.

At the ceremony held at the Fairmont Monte Carlo, UIM representatives highlighted this achievement, which combines sporting endurance, open sea navigation and the search for sustainable energy solutions.

With this record, Maximiliano MORDENTI is helping to promote the dynamism of Monegasque powerboating, supported by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the YCM, in the development of a high-performance and environmentally responsible sport.
