Team Monaco continues its spectacular run in the 2026 UIM E1 Series World Championship. At Round 5, held on 12 and 13 September in Luanda, Angola, the Monegasque team reached a new milestone by securing a magnificent second place, earning them a place on the podium.
Following a promising home race in Monaco that ultimately ended in seventh place due to a navigational error, Team Monaco was keen to prove that its performances on home soil were no fluke. They have succeeded.
A qualifying session just outside the points
The weekend in Angola had, however, begun with a solid qualifying session. The duo of Maxime Nocher and Oban Duncan secured fourth place for the Monegasque boat.
This was a particularly frustrating result as, in this championship format, only the top three in qualifying score points towards the championship. Team Monaco therefore narrowly missed out on a points-scoring position, but immediately confirmed their competitiveness against the best international teams.
A magnificent second place in Luanda
Team Monaco then responded perfectly during the race stages. Drawing on the experience gained since the start of the season, the Monegasque crew were able to make the most of the boat’s potential and avoid the mistakes that had cost them dearly at the Monaco Grand Prix.
At the end of a flawlessly executed race, Maxime Nocher and Oban Duncan secured second place in the Luanda Grand Prix, giving Team Monaco its first genuine podium finish of the 2026 season.
Above all, this second-place finish confirms the team’s steady progress; having competed in the UIM E1 Series World Championship only a few times, they are now beginning to establish themselves amongst the contenders for the top spots.

For Maxime Nocher and Oban Duncan, this performance is a fine reward for the efforts made since the start of the season. The disappointment of Monaco, where Team Monaco came very close to reaching the final stage and the podium, now seems to be behind the team.
Victory in qualifying, victory in the heat and the fastest time in Monaco, followed by second place in Luanda: the results speak for themselves.
Team Monaco is proving that it is improving with every race and is now capable of consistently challenging for the top spots in the championship.
Heading to the United States to round off the season
With this podium finish in Luanda, Maxime Nocher and Oban Duncan are approaching the season’s final two American rounds with confidence.
The objective is now clear: to build on this momentum, continue to gain experience and, why not, go for a first victory in the season’s final two Grands Prix.
Team Monaco can certainly approach this final stretch with ambition. After just its fourth appearance in the UIM E1 Series World Championship, the Monegasque team has confirmed that it now firmly belongs among the competitors capable of fighting for podium places.
