Lisa Caussin-Battaglia chooses Lake Havasu USA over the UIM World Championship in Olbia

Monegasque jet ski rider Lisa Caussin-Battaglia, licensed by the FMM-UIM, had to choose between two competitions: the UIM Aquabike Class Pro World Championship in Olbia, Sardinia, and the IJSBA international competition on Lake Havasu, Arizona.

Although this American event is not officially recognised by the FMM-UIM and attracts a smaller number of participants, Lisa chose to go there to represent Monaco and gain more experience on this stretch of water.

She took part in two categories: Women’s Ski GP, Women’s Ski Stock and a ‘Bonus’ entry in Slalom Ski Stock 4 Stroke.
With the support of the Rius Racing team, who lent her a jet ski to take part in the various events, she achieved respectable positions, finishing 5th out of 7 participants in Women’s Ski GP, 3rd out of 5 competitors in the production engine category (Women’s Ski Stock), and 2nd out of 3 entrants in the Slalom Ski Stock 4 Stroke event, confirming the relevance of her participation.

Good conditions on Saturday and a few technical problems encountered by her American rival in the third round allowed her to recover 5th place in the Women’s Ski GP category.

More difficult water conditions due to Sunday’s weather left one competitor out of the running in the second round of the Women’s Ski Stock category, while her two local rivals did not give her a chance to come back and finished ahead of the Monegasque in the overall standings.

The Monegasque Motorboat Federation said it was surprised by the choice of its pilot, who is licensed in Monaco, as the IJSBA competitions offer multiple categories in which the Monegasque now seems to be finding her niche.
