2026 UIM F2 Inshore World Championship: Giacomo Sacchi kicks off his season in Lithuania

The 2026 UIM F2 Inshore World Championship season kicked off this weekend, 6–7 June, in Lithuania. As is the case every year, the championship brings together 16 drivers representing nine nations across six rounds held throughout the season.

Monegasque driver Giacomo Sacchi, now a regular on the world championship circuit, is approaching this new campaign with the ambition of playing a leading role and joining the fight for the world title.

The Lithuanian Grand Prix had, however, got off to an ideal start for the Principality’s representative. Having put in solid performances during the free practice sessions, particularly in Free Practice 3 (P3), Giacomo Sacchi then had a more difficult qualifying session. He ultimately secured 8th place on the starting grid. This result meant he failed to make it through to Q3, the final qualifying phase reserved for the six fastest drivers. This is a significant factor in a discipline where qualifying often plays a decisive role in a driver’s hopes of excelling in the race the following day.

This season, the engines in the F2 Inshore category are fuelled by traditional Super/Bio-Ethanol, a more environmentally friendly fuel, but one whose characteristics can sometimes lead to rapid variations in performance depending on operating conditions and settings, particularly during fast laps. An additional factor that drivers and their teams must now master throughout the championship.

The only Monegasque driver competing in this international category, Giacomo Sacchi nevertheless put in a determined performance. By the end of the 45-lap race, he had managed to climb up the order to cross the chequered flag in 6th place.

This performance saw him score his first points of the season and get his world championship campaign off to a positive start. The championship continues at the end of June in Italy, with the Brindisi Grand Prix, the second round of what promises to be a particularly competitive season.
